An Online Citizenship test
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced on November 26, 2020, that individuals who applied for Canadian Citizenship will be able to complete an Online Citizenship Test.
The Government of Canada is currently testing the online system with a limited number of applicants. Priority has been given to applicants whose tests were canceled due to the pandemic and those who are on the waiting list.
Once the stability of the system has been tested and implemented IRCC intends to invite more applicants to take the online citizenship test in the future.
Selected candidates will be contacted by IRCC to take the online citizenship test.
Furthermore, if applicants would prefer taking the exam in person they may also wait until the in-person tests resume and testing centers reopen.
To become a citizen of Canada, applicants aged 18 to 54 must successfully pass a citizenship test unless an exemption applies.
Online Citizenship Tests a great solution for delays due to COVID-19
Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Canada, Citizenship tests were cancelled since March 14, 2020. IRCC conducted citizenship tests only for urgent applications.
This is great news for Applicants who have been waiting to take their citizenship test.
